Story and Narrative

Story and narrative are one of the most commonly misused terminology in terms of media definitions.

Quite simply story is the events in which that take place within a piece of media, be it a television show, documentary, film etc.

Whereas the narrative is the order in which these events are shown on screen.

There are many elements which make up and add effect to the narrative of a story- use of linear vs nonlinear, open and closed endings and the level of realism.
